One more item to confuse you even more.. Depending on his rate, he could also go to an OCONUS location (like GTMO), and be considered on a "sea" tour.... But he's not attached to a ship, and doesn't deploy.. However, most places like that, it's much harder for the service member to get their family to those locations. There are a lot of restrictions...

Yeah that's COMPLETELY above my head. I'm still learning a lot of the military stuff.

Ok.. To put it plainly: certain overseas locations are considered sea duty even though they are not attached to a ship. I currently live in Guantanamo Bay (GTMO), Cuba. We are there for Tim's shore duty, but several of our friends are there on sea duty.

Ok thank you I understand now. I wonder if there are certain locations where rates go there more. Like my boyfriend is going into Advance Electrionics. If he get ET or FC is there places they prefer them to be? Or pretty much fair game acrossed the board?

ET is fair game across the board.. FC is a different story. So it'll depend on which he gets, and then his NEC within each of those rates.
