When I joined the Navy last year, I originally wanted IS but they said wasn't available for active duty so the alternative they came up with was CTR. Unfortunately, I've just dropped from CTR A school because I couldn't handle how technically advanced it is. The school house said I should hope for IS. How advanced is it? Here, IS are called professional PowerPoint makers.

From personal experience I would recommend you not get your hopes up on IS. I was told I'd be rerated to IS or IT or CTR (I was a CTN drop) and I got PS, EO, and EM as options. I chose PS. I know several IS. It's not only PowerPoint, but that is definitely an aspect of it. But IS can be pretty technical, too, depending on your NEC. Good luck!

I actually was able to get IS. I've been given more clarity on it and feel very confident.

Awesome! Congratulations. It’s a great rate. I’ve been trying to cross over to it for a year now. Hopefully this time next year I’ll be able to!
