The Mail Buoy -
Welcome to the Mail Buoy...
This section is for families members that would like to be a pen-pal to a lonely recruit in bootcamp. Recruits love mail, however, some families member don't support their decision, thus, they don't get mail. We will show them that we support their decision to support the worlds greatest Navy!!! This listing will be constantly be rolling. The Admins/Moderators will go down the list and find the next person. If they can't get ahold of the person within a reasonable amount of time, we will go to the next, and so on... As people get selected the Admins/Mods will edit their thread showing they are presently or have already accepted to be a pen-pal. We will have lots of deppers going to boot camp (one just left yesterday)and they can easily see who is not getting mail. They can suggest to recuit to write our address, and we will hook them up with a pen-pal. Upon the 1st letter received to the NavyDEP address, we will open it, scan it, and email the letter and address to the person selected. After that, the letters will go directly from/to the Family member and Recruit. The Navy Families address is: NavyDEP 5491 S. Salida Street Centennial, Colorado 80015-2533 Please enter your user name below if you wish to group this support group. We will PM you you when we need you. So DO NOT ENTER YOUR ADDRESS, remember, we will scan the 1st letter to you. Please also list if you would like a Male or Female recruit, or if it doesn't matter, say "a Sailors a Sailor". It will take some time to get this rocking, but we have to start somewhere. So today's the day!!!! Last edited by Craig; 01-04-2012 at 12:17 AM. |

Craig, count me in on this one! I know if I ever ship, I'll be sending a letter to you so everyone can write me. More the better in my mind. I couldn't imagine going through boot with out at least one letter.

This is such a great idea! I would love to be a penpal to someone. My family (as in everyone other than my husband and one aunt) is completely against my decision to join and NOT supportive so I completely understand how hard it is to stay motivated when your loved ones aren't rooting for you. At least I have my husband being the greatest cheerleader of all!

Just found this today, as I'm browsing for the last time before I ship off. I will definitely be writing, as extra mail couldn't possibly hurt. Thanks for setting this up!

denako - Knowledge is a savior to many families. Knowing what is coming up next makes life so much easier.
What would help you would to go to Molly's next sailors packing party. We send all type of goodies to the sailors on ships. Her program is truly awesome. I think the Colorado group will a packing party next month. btw: Welcome neighboor, we live in Centennial. We drive past Golden all the time when we go to BlackHawk....

Oh that sounds great. I would love to get involved. Where do I find out more information on Molly packing party. This is definately a knowledge is power decision my daughter made and reading all the questions and answers really has made it alot easier to let go a little. She is in good hands, doing something amazing and so darn excited you can't help but get excited for her

Right now I do not have anyones address to write to, maybe Craig does. IF he does, then he will let you know in a PM as we wont post addresses here in an open forum.
We hope that those going to boot would let one of us moderators know their address, so we can pass it along if they want...but they need to ask for our address to do this. Right now I have been busy sending goodie packages to several soldiers in Afghanistan and Korea, and to those Sailors I know on deployment. You wouldnt believe how many soldiers dont get any mail or goodies ever! SHAMEFUL!

If you want someone to write to, I can hook you up. I have a bunch of moms that would love to do that. But remember it's a two way street. You need to write, for you to get something in return.
Let me know...

I would be happy to write to any Sailor, at BC, school, or deployment/duty station. No matter where or how they are serving, they are serving. They deserve our respect and support. Please add me to the lists.

This is such a great idea! I'm leaving on Tuesday, and I will be bringing along the address for other recruits just in case. I can't even imagine people not getting letters from friends or loved ones. I'd have to imagine it would make boot camp that much more difficult.

Just remember if you want letters from other navydep members to write one of us moderators so we can get your address to who you want! I write to lots of kids in boot, for army and navy!

letters
I am leaving for basic November 17th in a few weeks. My mom is supportive, but she will be moving soon and I'm afraid I won't be able to contact her while in basic. She doesn't know where she is moving yet. I would really appreciate having someone to talk too while I'm gone. Please help me know how to contact someone that wouldn't mind being a pen pal. Thanks!
