Here is sea shore flow for DC in months. First number is sea then shore and so on DC 60 36 60 36 48 36 48 36 36/36 A A. SAILORS IN SEA-INTENSIVE COMMUNITIES. SAILORS IN SEA-INTENSIVE COMMUNITIES CAN EXPECT TO SPEND MORE THAN HALF THEIR CAREER ON SEA DUTY ASSIGNMENT. SEA TOUR LENGTHS FOR THESE COMMUNITIES WILL NOT INVOLUNTARILY EXCEED 60 MONTHS FOR SAILORS WITH LESS THAN 20 YEARS OF SERVICE (YOS) AND 48 MONTHS FOR SAILORS WITH MORE THAN 20 YOS. SHORE TOUR LENGTHS BETWEEN SEA TOURS WILL BE SET TO 36 MONTHS LONG. MANNING CONDITIONS AT SEA MAY REQUIRE THE NEED TO REQUEST SEA TOUR EXTENSION OR SHORE TOUR CURTAILMENTS TO ENSURE ALL SEA DUTY BILLETS ARE FILLED. SAILORS ARE ADVISED TO CONTACT THEIR COMMUNITY MANAGER OR DETAILER FOR INFORMATION ON OR AVAILABILITY OF INCENTIVES SUCH AS SEA DUTY INCENTIVE PAY (SDIP) OR VOLUNTARY SEA DUTY PROGRAM (VSDP) FOR VOLUNTEERING TO SERVE ADDITIONAL TIME AT SEA.

DC in the Navy
As of now there are 317,464 Active Duty personal in the Navy.
http://www.navy.mil/navydata/nav_legacy.asp?id=146 Out of the 317, 464 there are only 3500 (appox.) are DC men. That is 1.1%, pretty rare job. |
