HM on Ship
What's the probability of being an HM and ending up on a boat and rather than hospital side?
And to answer the quick question, yes I'd like to spend a tour or two on a boat or sub.

For smaller ships, it will be more likely once your a first class or chief.
On cru/des ships there are typically about 2 HMs

How many doctors/nurses would there be in ships (non-hospital ships), especially small guys/destroyers/cruisers? And do doctors/nurses get to travel a lot too or generally stay in one place working in a clinic/hospital?

in a school out of 1000 or so kids i saw graduate.. i counted 6 that got carriers. 2 got hospital ships 1 that got a destroyer and one got the frank cable..so that would be about a 1% chance of getting a ship as your first duty station if you were in san antonio same time as me. on the bright side you probably do more pt care at a shore command or green side. doctors and nurses rarely go on ships.. theyll deploy with mercy or comfort nd serve as medical officers.. but there too.. odds are shore or green side... i just about beg the navy daily for sea time.. its hard to get

Amphibs will have an actual doctor and dentist, as well as several corpsmen. Carriers/big decks will have full medical departments including surgical staff. The hospital ships have about 1000 doctors and corpsmen.
