Dellis is correct about the 2 barrettes and unlimited Bobby pins (but not to the point your hair is matted down).
Sock buns are allowed in the fleet. I haven't heard otherwise for boot camp. The new regs have pictures showing what's acceptable. http://www.navy.mil/ah_online/um/femalehair.html |

How low or high can the bun be?

It has to be low for your cover it fit still. I'm not sure if you know human anatomy very well but I have been putting mine just above my occiput (its the "bumpy" bone just above the nape of your neck). I decided that I am bringing, and wearing a sock bun insert the day I ship that will match my hair. I'm sure they'll have them at the Nex as they have them at Walgreens and the Dollar Tree.

I am a male but yes the tube sock or a hair bun is what the females had. braise are for battle stations only
